The Role of Kilkenny Local Authorities
Kilkenny Local Authorities are committed to working towards creating an accessible environment with an "Access for All" policy in service delivery which enables rather than disables our customers. This is done in a number of ways:
- Identification of barriers to access and prioritisation of accessibility for works that we undertake.
- Emphasis on Social Inclusion with full participation in society a priority
- Consultation People with Disabilities and their representatives
- Promotion of accessibility and disability awareness within the local authority & throughout Kilkenny City & County
- Provision of specialist training for technical staff, libraries & frontline staff.
- Disability-proofing plans for developments & services within the local authority
- Assessment & issuing of Disability Access Certificates since January 2010.
- Access Officer appointed under Part 3:Section 26 Disability Act 2005
